Today I need to at least accomplish 2 things. Well, the list of “things to do today” far exceeds two items this is my attempt at prioritizing.
I will spend some time in Africa. Virtual Africa that is, and take some photos for an article I want to start and hope to complete today before my head rests itself on the long rounded Ikea Pillow whose feathers stick out and poke me in the face.
I will also need to prepare a pre-press package for tonights Grand Ball at Tiffany’s. Susie Staheli of Second Life just sent me an IM nearly 5 hours ago telling me that I needed to be there at the Ball tonight for the great networking opportunity that she has provided for me. She also told me that one of the store owners was asking her about the magazine and its ad rates. I wonder if it’s the same person that had IM’d me earlier asking about the magazine.
One things at a time, but really to my A.D.D.’ness it’s more like 3 or 4 things at a time.
Well, I am going to quickly make my blog rounds and then log onto Second Life and see what I need to take care of and then start on that pre-press package.

It only took 3 days from the start of the Joomla download and installation to the completion of the “The Time of My Life” piece!

… such has been my obsession for the past two days.
I finally found a way to get my paypal.de account to receive money. Apparently, the German PayPal does not work like the ‘normal/standard’ PayPal that I have been use to. I have to transfer money from my bank account to my PayPal account, which takes days.
So, I needed to do this in order to join a template club. Ummm.. meaning I get 4 months of access and support to a site that created templates for purchase and download, as well as 4 templates that I can use each on two domains each.
The site is called www.Gavick.com and I am guessing that the Forum Moderator, Robert Gavick is one of if not THE creator of these amazing Joomla based templates.
I downloaded the template ‘News Portal’ that I have been eyeing for about a month now. I managed to figure out how to change the source .psd file in Photoshop for editing out their logo and placing the DF eu one. I also did a few colour changes to the fonts and removed unnecessary background layers that I did not want. I wanted the look of modules floating …
I viewed the completed work (which took hours by the way), in Image Ready .. and then in the Safari Browser. It looked exactly as I had wanted it to look.
I saved the file as ‘web page’ which then generated an .html file and the corresponding image folder.
I transferred the image folder to the portable memory stick and gave it to M to upload to the cpanel of the domain admin site. I could easily do this myself but he is not letting me access that part of the domain backend for fear that I will screw up something no doubt. It wouldn’t be so bad if our other domains are not on this server, so …
When the image folder was uploaded, all 158 .png files I was excited. I clicked on the df.eu site in the fave tab bar and OMG… it was totally NOT what I had created nor what I viewed on Image Ready and Safari. A lot of elements were missing. This is extremely frustrating. I had worked for hours editing the .psd file and making sure that I did everything right to make it look like how I wanted it to look like – for the end result.
I immediately logged onto the Gavick Forum site and posted a HELP!!!!
M started to trouble shoot too. I appreciate his effort and time but honestly, I think I should just wait for the people that created the template to get back to me. I gave them a step by step what I did thing .. as well as two possible reasons why I thought it did not work.
AUGH….
There is ONE good news though. The payment for the domain hosting site that I signed up for went through so I hope the guys on that end prepare my account so that I could work on the Tech Savvy Tech Sexy site.
I am really excited because this will be the first time where I will have full control of the backend of a domain site. More like having TOP SECRET access in the FBI.
More headaches and frustrations to come I am sure .. but at least it is all for learning.
Now, if only the Gavick admins reply in a timely manner before I go bonkers.

I would really love to start working on the Tech Savvy Tech Sexy Site but I don’t want to just start with any FREE template that when later, would need to be upgraded for what I hope to make the site eventually into (oh God, did you even follow that?).
I KNOW what the site will feature and what widgets and options I need to allow for the site to slowly grow into what I envision it to be .. so the question is, do I just go ahead and start with a free template just to get content up or should I wait a little while longer to find and set up the proper template and hosting for it. Augh.
As it is, I am waiting for the 3D World Media site to be up. One issue though – it cannot be up until I have paid the initial invoice. I HAVE the money but there is some complicating matters that involve proper money transfers from PayPal or rather from a Bank Account in Germany – to the billing system of the hosting company in S.F.
I am thinking of just contacting Nuesion and have him host the domains at his end .. like he did before, and I just pay him via PayPal – we’ll see.
That doesn’t mean that I cannot work on the content(s) for the sites, not at all. I just feel like I am edged between two stones without having the freedom I need to move on.
Creativity cannot be hampered by such mundane trivialities like daily life and usual system processes. Augh.

I have finally figured out a way to combine all my passions into one (as if I could).
I decided a few days ago to create a site called Tech Savvy Tech Sexy. My good friend and Second Life brother, Ben Vanguard of www.slmen.com inspired me in such a way that I can now progress the way I need to with the various other projects – one thing at a time.
Tech SavvyTech Sexy is a fashion accessory site for all things gadget and techie in Second Life and in Real Life. What this means is, Ysabel Isabella, my SL avatar will be featuring ‘neat’ gadgets that she has found in SL as accessories to a ‘digital femme lifestyle’.
As I am not too into fashion but would rather prefer a Mac as opposed to Manolo Blahniks I figure, what best to make use of what I love both inworld and in Real Life by writing about and perhaps someday, making money with it.
We’ll see how it goes, but the exciting thing is, I actually can see this growing into something bigger than what I started with. That is the goal anyway.
Wish me luck.
