I miss ….

October 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I miss my life.
The one I had working as a neuro nurse in Houston at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
I miss the money I made. I miss my car. I miss my two dogs. I miss my fashion bags, my shoes, my clothes, my plates, mugs, cups, jewelery, BOOKS, I miss my BOOKS, my plants, my Ikea King Size Bed, my white comforters, my ability to eat any where I want to.
I miss wandering through an Apple store, I miss bubble tea, I miss WHOLE FOODS, I miss my DVD collection (especially, SATC), I miss South Padre, Galveston Beach, I miss television (we don’t have a tv), I miss having a closet (I am still living out of two suitcases), I miss having my bikini area waxed every month and a half, I miss my hairstylist/hair cutter, I miss my nail polish, I miss the American Brands that I’ve used all my life (Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil), I miss Banana Republic, Victoria Secret, Target, Yes, even Wal-Mart! I miss great Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese food, I miss Dim Sum, I miss those huge Pacific Malls where you get all these weird Asian delicacies – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -

and yet … despite all that, I have never been MORE EMPOWERED than I am now.

When you are stripped (my choice) of things that you are comfortable with – then the only thing you can count on that you know is raw and real, is your self.

On a rowboat without a paddle

October 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have managed thus far to get my “mojo” back. Some semblance of what I use to be and of what I know I can do given the resources. Founding and hosting the 1st Frankfurt Girl Geek Dinner was a challenge I wanted to take and needed to succeed in – publicly. It was something that I felt I required as part of my induction into a German/Technology niche, no matter how small (in Frankfurt).

I have now managed to obtain the much coveted Media Pass to the Web 2.0 Expo in Berlin Oct. 21 – 23.

Thanks to the kindness of Tim O’Reilly for making this possible.

The only challenge I foresee in the next week is:

1. How do I get to Berlin.

2. Where do I stay.

3. Where do I get the money to fund this.

I shouldn’t be going. I’ll be missing 4 English classes and that means not getting paid for the classes for that week but having the classes moved over to the first week of November. This is not good because it will be a lower amount of pay for my October Paycheck that will arrive at the end of November.

Because I am going to the Philippines Nov. 14 – 29 (my parents are paying for my ticket), I will not be working for half of November. December will be a very POOR month with only really, one week of pay in November that will be given to me end of December. You got it. Christmas. :o (

Sigh.

I am thinking of NOT going to the Web 2.0 Expo but how could I not. This is one opportunity that was given to me as a gift. I would never have been able to get in without Tim’s kindness. I NEED to be there at the Web 2.0 Expo. I am hoping things will find a way to work out – as they always do.

Come on Universe. Make it happen.

Me and My Nokia

June 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I wouldn’t call it “love” and dare I even call it a ‘relationship’. Given that scenario, then, what WOULD you call it?

I’d call it definitely ‘complimentary’. She fills my needs as much as I fill her need to be used and exploited. And exploited is definitely what I do however, I feel as if I could exploit her features more. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Unaware is she, of my plans for her in the near future. I hope she holds out long enough.

Tech Savvy Tech Sexy

November 19, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I have finally figured out a way to combine all my passions into one (as if I could).

I decided a few days ago to create a site called Tech Savvy Tech Sexy. My good friend and Second Life brother, Ben Vanguard of www.slmen.com inspired me in such a way that I can now progress the way I need to with the various other projects – one thing at a time.

Tech SavvyTech Sexy is a fashion accessory site for all things gadget and techie in Second Life and in Real Life. What this means is, Ysabel Isabella, my SL avatar will be featuring ‘neat’ gadgets that she has found in SL as accessories to a ‘digital femme lifestyle’.

As I am not too into fashion but would rather prefer a Mac as opposed to Manolo Blahniks I figure, what best to make use of what I love both inworld and in Real Life by writing about and perhaps someday, making money with it.

We’ll see how it goes, but the exciting thing is, I actually can see this growing into something bigger than what I started with. That is the goal anyway.

Wish me luck.

Flock 1.0.1 Release Notes

November 10, 2007 · Leave a Comment

So, this time I only had 5 windows open in Flock with one viewing a video broadcast that I had just uploaded onto a site while broadcasting another vid live onto another. I was wondering why, right in the middle of my online event – the browser stopped responding – again.

I then get a message after the “send report” “don’t send” that Flock was updating.

Updating …. cool.

Flock 1.0.1 has just been released minutes prior to me posting this. You can read the Release Notes here.

I am still lovin’ my Flock Browser.

I have coined the phrase, “Flock is to the online social networker what purses are to women” or “Flock is the blackberry of the online social networker what purses are to women” or “Flock is the essential accessory of the online social networker what purses are to women” or “Flock is a must-have to the online socialĀ  networker, what lipstick is to women” or .. well you get my drift.

Wuala Alpha ..

November 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

How lucky am I! I was given the ‘code’ to download the alpha version of Wuala. It was an easy install. After opening the client it immediately took you to a well organized user interface screen where you can complete your profile – basically the usual. It also gave you a link to their site where you can view guides for getting all set up in Wuala. It only took me 5 minutes to complete my profile, create a group “Second Life Users on Wuala” of course, and join a few others. I also decided to test out the file uploading and uploading my entire collection of FREE Joomla Templates.

Click here to sign up for the upcoming beta release.
